A Diamond Void Knight is a martial sentinel who has stared into the abyss and, instead of falling, has caged a fragment of it within their own soul. This soul, through immense discipline and willpower, has been crystallized into a perfect, adamantine prison for the raw power of the void. They are not champions of darkness, nor are they necessarily paragons of light. They are wardens of a terrifying cosmic force, using its gravitational pull and entropy as a weapon while relying on their own inner diamond-like strength to protect themselves and others from it.
Duality of a Diamond Void Knight
- The Diamond: Represents their unshakeable will, their physical and mental fortitude, and their structured, precise fighting style. It manifests as shimmering, crystalline armor (either worn or conjured), weapons of solidified light, and an unbreakable defense.
- The Void: Represents the chaotic, consuming power they command. It manifests as gravitational pulls, fields of silence and darkness, attacks that bypass conventional armor, and the crushing weight of oblivion.
The Diamond Void Knight is a premier Tank and Controller.
- Tank: They are incredibly difficult to take down, boasting high Armor Class and abilities that reduce or negate damage. They excel at holding a position and drawing enemy fire.
- Controller: They manipulate the battlefield by altering gravity. They can pull enemies into melee range, create areas of difficult terrain, and impose debilitating effects that represent the soul-crushing emptiness of the void.
Powers & Abilities of a Diamond Void Knight
- Adamant Bulwark. A core defensive ability. As a reaction, they can spend an Abyssal Shard to reduce incoming damage by a significant amount, representing their diamond soul deflecting the blow.
- Singularity Strike. A melee attack that, on a hit, allows the Knight to pull the target (and perhaps other nearby enemies) closer to them, forcing enemies to engage on the Knight's terms.
- Entropy Blade. The Knight can spend an Abyssal Shard to imbue their weapon with pure void. The next successful weapon attack deals extra necrotic or force damage and ignores all damage resistances, representing a strike that unravels matter itself.
- Event Horizon. An area-of-effect ability. The Knight designates a point on the battlefield, and for a short time, the area becomes difficult terrain as gravity intensifies. Any creature starting its turn there might be pulled toward the center.
- Flawless Defense. They can enter a stance where their form becomes a perfect crystal. While in this stance, their AC increases, but their movement might be reduced, making them a true unmovable bastion.
- Void Step. As a bonus action, the Knight can dissolve their physical form into a rift of momentary darkness and teleport to an unoccupied space they can see within 30 feet. They arrive with a faint, chilling silence.
- Gravitational Shift. After using Void Step, the Knight can choose to either pull or push all enemies within 10 feet of their arrival point 5 feet directly towards or away from them, creating a disorienting ripple in spacetime.
- Translocate Ally. The Knight can extend their control over the void to others. As an action, they can teleport a willing ally they can see within 30 feet to another unoccupied space within 30 feet of the Knight. The ally is briefly wreathed in shimmering, dark motes of light.
- Crushing Gravity Well. The Knight slams their weapon or a free hand into the ground, spending two Abyssal Shards to create a 20-foot radius sphere of intensified gravity centered on themselves. Enemies caught within the area must make a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone and have their speed reduced to zero until the start of the Knight's next turn. The Knight is unaffected.
- Sphere of Silence. As an action, the Knight can create a zone of absolute silence in a 15-foot radius sphere around them that lasts for one minute. All sound is nullified within the sphere, rendering verbal communication impossible and deafening creatures within it. This also negates any spell with a verbal component from being cast within, or into, the sphere.
- Abyssal Gaze. The Knight can focus their will and gaze upon a creature, forcing them to briefly comprehend the vast, soul-crushing emptiness of the void. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of the Knight for one minute. The effect ends if the creature takes damage from any source other than the Knight. This ability represents the sheer terror of their power.
